Mishawaka Riverwalk
If you’re exploring Mishawaka before or after visiting Jordan Ford for a new Ford model or automotive service, then it’s worth making your way to the Mishawaka Riverwalk. What is the Mishawaka Riverwalk? In short, it’s a series of pedestrian and bicycle trails on both banks of the St. Joseph River. Learn more about the Mishawaka Riverwalk before visiting from Granger or South Bend!
About the Mishawaka Riverwalk
The Mishawaka Riverwalk, officially known as the River St. Joseph of the Miamis Trail, is a circular system ideal for pedestrians and bikers alike. There are various pedestrian bridges that connect the river banks for complete access, which are located at:
- Central Park
- Kamm Island
- Robert C. Beutter Riverfront Park (connecting to Battell Park)
Along the Riverwalk, landscaping and lighting enhance the experience, as well as scenic views of the river. Whether you’re walking off a pizza dinner or want to head out on a jog, the Mishawaka Riverwalk proves the ideal place to do so. Measuring about 2.5 miles, it’s the perfect course to meander.
Around the Mishawaka Riverwalk
The points connecting the banks of the St. Joseph River along the Mishawaka Riverwalk are worth visiting, too. Kamm Island, for example, serves as a favorite fishing spot for many, and every year, people flock here for the annual Kamm Island Fest. Meanwhile, Central Park boasts playground equipment, pavilions, a splash pad, a lighted basketball court, and fishing access. At Beutter Park, take in the famed “Shards” sculpture, an 800-foot perennial garden, and a river race with elliptical-shaped overlook weirs and fiber-optic underwater lighting. Finally, Battell Park features lighted tennis courts, a gazebo, a terraced rock garden, a civil war statue, and a historic bandshell, which proves popular for summer concerts and theatrical productions. When you wander the Mishawaka Riverwalk, there is plenty to see along the way!
